Semi-solo trip in London {Day 2}

I used to be THE planner when it comes to holidays. I must know where I’m going, I must have an excel itinerary (there can’t be a better tool) and I must follow the itinerary. Somewhere in 2015, I realized that changed. I can’t decide if I no longer want to plan or if it’s because I’m too lazy/busy to. Anyway the point is, I no longer have the urge to have a travel plan and I woke up on Day 2 not knowing where to go.

I didn’t panic.

>> Leather Lane Market

I googled for “London best markets for food” and decided to go Leather Lane market because it’s the nearest and I’m really hungry!

I had such high hopes but 99% of the stalls were not opened, yet. Google says the market is open from 10am – 2.30pm but I was there at 10.30am and clearly, the stalls were not ready to feed me.

>> Camden Market

I wasn’t frustrated. Maybe because there wasn’t anyone for me to be angry or grumpy at, maybe because nothing completes a solo adventure more than such unexpected hiccups. The next market on my list was Camden Market and I thought to myself, “what if the market is closed too?”. With that thought, I bought a croissant from a nearby bakery and carried on with my journey.

Camden Market is a huge place and you’ll definitely feel lost. It took me awhile to find where the famous food stalls are but it was fun exploring the place, stall by stall, street by street.

It took me a long time to find the street stalls because I didn’t ask. If you are hungry or are short of time, please ask the stall owners. I regretted I didn’t ask because I ended up having fish and chips and didn’t have enough stomach space for the snacks 😦

Okay, if there is one thing you MUST eat here, it gotta be this: The Mac Factory. It’s basically mac and cheese but it has these yummy crumbs on top, the macaroni is thin and the cheese isn’t too heavy. Everything just goes so well together!

For a greedy person like me, solo adventures doesn’t make sense when it comes to food. How much can one person eat?

>> Shopping at Primark

I took my time to explore Camden and then it’s time for the two-storey Primark! I know Jeremy wouldn’t be interested in shopping so I decided to spare him the torture. I took my time once again because the things are REALLY cheap! Yoga tops at £3 and sweaters at £5?

I exercised huge self-control when I resisted buying the above plate for £4. It’s so useless but so adorable.

>> Ben’s Cookies

My hotel is next to Westfield so I decided to check out the place at night. It has a huge supermarket (which I mentally bookmarked) and Ben’s Cookies! I was quite excited about it but because it was so cold in London, the cookie wasn’t as warm/moist as those I tried in Singapore.

I had an early night and didn’t set any alarm for the next day. #travelgoals
