how i Skyved my afternoon away!

not being able to type the letter ‘a’ and exclamation mark really has an inertia effect on blogging. so pardon the random disappearance of ‘a’ and less boring sentences (due to lesser exclamation marks) because it’s quite tiring to copy-and-paste :p

SO! after hearing so much and seeing so much (instagram is really evil) about Skyve, i finally made my way down there with shena & faith to celebrate faith’s much much belated birthday. (happy birthday again faith!)

and Skyve definitely didn’t disappoint 😀

my favorite gotta either be the ricotta pancakes with the to-die-for passionfruit butter (seriously, the butter really made a HUGE difference – so yummy that we asked for a second serving in fact :x) or the madame croque which is basically just.. a very well-done grilled ham and cheese sandwich haha

we were pretty pleased with our jug of fruit juice. healthy living ttm. hurhur

see, so good that we finished everything!

and how not to love a place when their service staff were so nice to offer group shot? 🙂

it’s been a long long time since i had such a fulfilling afternoon and no doubt that the good food, great company and quiet environment definitely played a big part! i’ll be bacckkkkk.

toasted kaya buns!

gotta love Singapore for its wide variety of food choices. we have no lack of restaurants/bars with yummy finger food for us to spend some good quality time with friends after work and over the weekends. and i love quiet brunch places which offers me nice fluffy pancakes and pretty scenery.

most importantly! i’m glad that simple places like this old-school bakery still exist whenever we feel nostalgic:)

faith says we gotta come early before the crowd starts swarming in but we must be super lucky or something. plenty of empty seats, no need to queue! 😀 another thing about it being not-so-crowded is that i can snap away without people thinking i’m mad

the aunties behind the nice old-school buns and sugee cakes

hello faith! :d

and here’s what we had while waiting for the rest!

LOOKS DAMN GOOD RIGHT!!

hahaha sorry i think i am probably too suaku! have never seen toasted kaya buns before 😡 you know how some things always look better than it taste? this definitely tastes as good/even better than it looks!

it’s so small that one bun is never enuf.

please don’t be as silly as me / brendon to think that it’s egg tarts. it’s CUSTARD TARTS.

shimin and alibaba joined us soon when they were placing their order for the toasted kaya buns, we realized there’s two bread types to choose from! one is of course the normal plain white bread (i.e. the one we had earlier), another is the raisin bread. so there we go … ROUND TWO.

hehe i preferred the raisins one!

thank you faithie for recommending this place and it’s really like a visit to the 1960s – the sort of scene you only see in our channel 8 dramas ahahah. and when we asked for the bill ..

receipt calculated manually on a paper! you can tell that ours was a complicated calculation because all of us came at different time and thus the many many seperate orders haha

and yep. i’ll be back chin mee chin confectionery! 😀

Swensen’s dessert buffet

I have been wanting to try Swensen’s dessert buffet at Ion for the longest time. Seriously, $12.90 for free-flow of cakes, ice-cream and desserts sounds like a damn good deal.

But..(sorry to burst your bubble here) it was really quite disappointing 😦

here’s the dinner company; lester & ahboo

was too excited about the desserts that we didn’t take any pictures of our main course. 😀

ahboo didn’t want to overload herself with desserts so only lester and i went ahead with the dessert buffet. hehe if you have always wanted to know what swensen’s desserts buffet is all about… here it is!

chocolate fondue(s) + plenty of cakes!

and plenty of ice cream flavours!

okay so it seems like there’s a wide variety of desserts, WHY was it disappointing then?
because..

1. sticky chewy chocolate isn’t part of the buffet! 😦

2. and as good as the waffle and pancake looks in the picture below, it tasted really bad

one bite was all we had. that’s how bad it was

and the cheesecake was too soft…

actually, minus the two reasons above, $12.90 might be pretty worth it for first-timers!

but nope, no more swensen’s dessert buffet for me!
