GZ DAY ONE

my father says their security is so bad that they have to install those things to prevent any robbery from taking place

but seriously,
IF i am going to rob a taxi driver and i know that their taxis look like that,
obviously i will bring a long-enough parang so that i can reach the taxi driver. no?

although the taxi driver from hell was travelling at 140kmph,
it still took us about half an hour to reach our hotel.
we were all super hungry by then 😦

we settled our lunch at this recommended restaurant in our hotel

it wasn’t even cold at all.
my mother felt so cheated because she brought 2 jackets hahaha

Cost = 160RMB = SGD 32

how to get a meal like that in singapore for 32 dollars?
and i must say that the toufu tasted really really good. :))

after satisfying our stomach, we (or rather, I) went off to satisfy our shopping urges!

we went zhuang yuan jie (scholar street) and spent almost 5 hours there.
it’s like one main street with many many small lanes.
didn’t manage to take any pictures because there were seriously too many people (which makes me wonder why are their people so free on a MONDAY afternoon, don’t they have to work or study?!)
i went into every single lane and bought a thousand belts. i kinda got fleeced at the first shop… could have gotten those 3 belts at 1SGD each but i paid 3 times the price.
but my mum says “ok lah, it’s still quite cheap”. haha.

and this is how GZ looks like at 6.30pm

it became a teeny weeny bit colder
and so it justified my buy for a SGD 2 sweater.

.

the bag was a new buy too. only SGD 6 🙂
one of the four bags that i bought haha.

see my slippers? it earned itself quite a lot of stares throughout the whole 5 days.
it seems like people in GZ doesn’t have a culture of wearing slippers/slip-ons.
when i finally bought myself a pair of shoe on my final day, the auntie asked me
“ni de jiao bu hui leng ah?” (arent your feet cold?)
“ni xian zai cuan zhe ge xin xue, bi jiao hao kan” (you should wear this pair of shoes now, it looks nicer)

i changed out of my slippers and the auntie was very happy.
but i kinda regret it now cos i can’t even walk for half an hour in that pair of shoes….

will blog about day two soon! (:
