japan trip – day nine

i finally have the time to finish my japan trip post! all thanks to the 3days mc.

day nine was a “eat all you can” day. seriously, it’s already the last day- so even if it means that i have to gain 10kgs.. just let it be! btw, i really think that the snacks/food in japan is super under-rated. when ure there, your expectation(s) of food will triple! someone recommend me nice omu rice in sg please!!

ok so anyway, wee and i headed to harujuku to watch cosplay first. we tried to be more adventurous with our dressing (haha you can see for yourself later) to merge in with the harujuku crowd. but i ended up looking and feeling like a fashion disaster.

our last photo with the ikebukuro station:(

we thought we would be able to spot the cosplay people easily. but nooooooooo! we reached there at about 10am and all we saw were n o r m a l people. normal people referring to those who were normally dressed. and normal people who were doing normal stuff.. i tell you, wee and i felt super out of place! then we followed the crowd and ended up at some park..where we felt even more off.

so we decided to have our breakfast first. 🙂 you can guess how much they cost (ps: they might look like roadside stalls but please do not judge using singapore pasar malam standards)

wee had a jumbo sausage with honey mustard sauce, it’s damn nice! i don’t like sausage but this one is really not bad! i like the peppery aftertaste. and it’s really jumbo! haha i think this was about $8?

i got fried noodles. but since it’s $10, i shall give it a nicer name. YAKI SOBA. i actually enjoyed the vegetables more than the noodles. but still, not so bad la. nicer than the one at taka basement 2 because they don’t use the yellow noodles. THEN AGAIN.. if it costs $10, it better not taste like yellow noodles right. haha

as i said, it’s a “everything must try” day. so we couldn’t pass up on this. ji dan gaos! we were practically stuffing it down our throats

then!!

we bumped into mafias! with the super gel-ed up hair, tight black biker jackets and super tight black leather pants! woohoo it’s like back to the 60s! you won’t believe it, they took out their parangs, yelled some japanese words that i don’t understand and ran towards our direction! wee and i almost died on the spot.  sorry i was kidding. i think they were filming or sth. they were just sitting there doing nothing. as if waiting for money to drop from the sky. so sad:( i thought there would be a fight or something

we decided to give up on cosplayers and just go straight to harujuku to shop awhile first. maybe cosplayers need like 5 hours to put on the make up and gear right? but hurhur! we finally saw one group of them at the harujuku station on our way to the harujuku street!

they were still preparing though. so we decided to come back later. understanding tourists we are:)

HARUJUKU STREET

haha yes, we didn’t allow our stomach to have more than 15 minsutes of rest time.

and we spent quite some time in the 100Y shop..it’s probably the only place that is wallet-friendly enough for wee and i to spend without thinking

we then zoomed back to the station to watch the cosplayers.. and FINALLY!

amazing right?

you probably can’t tell from the pictures but it was rather chaotic because all the suaku tourists were all vying for a good shot of these cosplayers:) and these cosplayers were really very nice- some of them might look super hostile, but they would still be super willing to pose for or with you!

hahaha yes, the person with the rainbow hair is a HE. no doubt about it.. haha.

i thought these grafittis were quite nice. haha

and it was time for LUNCH! hahahaha. i’ve been wanting to try the DIY okonomiyaki even before we arrived at japan.. thank you to wee for accomodating!:) and be warned, because i am so suaku and excited, we took a lottttt of pictures.

i know it might not look appetising but trust me, it’s damn nice! this is a must-go place!haha i bet you can tell that i had a lot of fun cooking

hahaha i managed to find a place in singapore that offers DIY okonomiyaki too, hurhur anyone wants to try?

then, we went shibuya to take photos with the hachiko dog. there’s a very touching story behind this this dog. apparently, the owner of this dog passed away but this dog would still wait for the owner’s  “return” at the shibuya station everyday. sweet right.

our last stop for the day: die, i cannot remember the name of that place!!

but i know we are there for the doughnuts! 😀 ok if i’m not wrong, i think it’s shinjuku?

we left our mark at shinjuku:)

day9-14

finally! KRISPY KREME!

there was a long queue (think: the queue at donut factory during the donut craze) but we persevered! and in order to pacify the queue-ers, we had one free original glazed!

day9-15

you know what’s the saddest thing?

all my donuts got crushed because i had too many things to carry:( i had 2 luggages (because my mum would kill me if i throw away the other one) and one bag of donuts and one bag of shiroi koibitos.

and wee wanted to have a picture with him!

and i stuffed myself with my favourite bbq-ed sweet potato:) my all time favourite supper in japan.

i contemplated for a super long time before i took my coat and went out myself to get the sweet potato. haha i’m seriously a pig! thank god i decided early because i went back 30 mins later to take a photo of the sweet potato uncle and he’s already done. so, phew!!

with this, i end my japan post! 🙂 thank you wee for being such a spontaneous travel mate throughout the whole ten days! next time we must drag shp and czy out for another holiday yah!

japan trip: day eight

today, i passed my ex-colleagues some sovenirs i got from japan and i realized it’s been 3 months since the japan trip. THREE MONTHS! omg time flies. and i’m still stuck at day eight!

(i’ve already organized the pictures into collages but there’s still 27 of them. so give some time for this page to load after you click on that link k.)

japan trip: day seven

IT RAINED early in the morning so we almost postponed disneysea to the next day. but thank god we didn’t because there was no crowd at disneysea at all! everyone probably got put off by the drizzle hurhur no legendary long queue at the entrace! no 2 hours-long wait for those popular rides (: it was really a blessing in disguise

breakfast was at this eatery near our hostel. prices were quite pocket-friendly! less than ten buckeroos

i really love their steaming hot miso soup base! which by the way, was really a comfort to have because it was freezing cold outside

and i must tell you that the fluffy tempura batter is damn good!especially since it’s soaked with the miso soup that i love so much hahaha

surprisingly the japan disney train is quite conservative with the mickey mouse deco. i vaguely remember hongkong’s disney train to be a lot more mickey-mouseish than this

i always mix up pluto and goofy.and i still do

that’s the queue for mickey and minnie!

how can a disney trip be complete without a picture with mickey and minnie right? but we didn’t join the queue rightaway because wee wanted to get her minnie hairband and i wanted to get a pair of gloves before my fingers solid-ify from the cold and disintegrate from my palm

it was a long wait for the two lao shu. long enough for them to change shift

i didn’t know that wee loves donald duck so so much.

haha sorry i am too lazy to compile the pictures into collages

you see the volcano right behind? it’s called the journey to the centre of the earth- seriously i thought it was going to be damn scary (haha what i heard from other blogs) but turned out that it was jus a slight drop. it’s over before you know it

you would love this place if you love to take pictures as much as me. there’s like a 101 different settings for you to go picture-crazy

and there’s the world of aladdin

i was telling wee that the two of us are difficult to miss. our jackets were so bright!

then we bumped into pinnochio and friends

we have completely no idea who’s the ant and the tiger-looking character

the ride is scarier than it seems! because it was really really fast but too bad it’s too short of a roller coaster ride!

here’s another roller coaster ride we took

I MUST GO EUROPE ONE DAY!

oh!! and how can i forget about our lunch at disneysea

before we entered the restaurant, the staff gave us 2 choices: normal dining (about 20+?) or character dining (about 50?)

character dining means a random disney character will be loitering around your dining area to have your meal with you. normal dining means no disney character for you. and of cos we chose the normal one lah! siao.

wa i think i actually made the food looks good you know. trust me, it doesn’t taste THAT good. but i think it was still better than wee’s. hahaha

and this is my favourite ride in disneysea!

the introduction took close to 15mins! the intro was in japanese so we didn’t understand, i only remembered flickering lights and very fake screams – so very naturally i thought it’s a haunted mansion kind of ride. like ghosts would jump out of nowhere to give you the scare of your life

but nooooo. i was wrong! i didn’t suspect anything until the windows opened and then we realized we are at the highest level of the building! THEN DOWN IT WENT OMG i almost died

thank goodness it was too dark for me to see anything while it was falling

OK FAST FORWARD TO DINNER!

and wee really do not like dao geis

we both regretted having our lunch at disneysea because the food here is so much better! not to mention that’s is a lot cheaper too

AHHHH i am craving for omu rice now!

and guess what’s this!

they would give you this device that will BEEP once your food is ready for collection so that you won’t have to stand there to wait for your food- can singapore have that too.

i think wee spent a lot in that 2 hours there. oh btw, the food court was at the same mall too!

shall end off the post with a picture of the disneystore that actually doesn’t sell any big china bags so i know i HAVE to buy a luggage in order to lug everything back to singpaore

YAY GOOD NIGHT!
